Updated: Giugiaro's Italdesign firm is slowly leaking previews of the upcoming Geneva concept. Though they reveal little of the overall structure of the car, the pieces are beginning to fit together. The arrow-shaped taillights remind us a bit of those of the Giugiaro Mustang concept, although the execution of the shape differs greatly. Original: There’s no shortage to the number of concept cars being developed by Italy’s circle of design houses for next month’s Geneva Motor Show, a longstanding tradition where each studio would try to outdo each other with ever more outrageous designs. The latest marque to announce plans for the show is Giorgetto Giugiaro’s Italdesign, which has released this official teaser of its new concept.

The latest concept celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Italdesign studio and, like most of the other showcars, has been designed to promote the movement towards new technologies and alternative fuels.

Other studios presenting new concept cars at this year’s Geneva Motor Show include Pininfarina with its Sintesi Concept, Bertone with the Alfa Romeo B.A.T. 11, Fioravanti with its new Hidra concept and even Turin’s IED design school with the Maserati Chicane Concept.
