It’s that time of the year again--time to decide the best car to buy for 2014. There are a lot of strong contenders, but we’ve managed to whittle the list down to eight nominees.

Fiat has failed to elevate the performance of its struggling Alfa Romeo brand, but the automaker has a new five-year strategy that it plans to announce early next year. Sources indicate that the strategy will be a new focus on rear-wheel-drive cars.

Japanese automaker Mitsubishi will present three exciting concept cars at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show later this month. Today, the automaker has released the first photo of the trio and some new details.
