Sony has organized an event taking place tomorrow at the Silverstone circuit in the UK in celebration of the 15th anniversary of its Gran Turismo racing sim.

To help build excitement, the company released this teaser video, which suggests that we might get final confirmation of a launch date for the much anticipated sixth installment of the series, Gran Turismo 6.

The video features a number of cut scenes from the Gran Turismo games as well as a Nissan GT-R from the GT Academy gamer-turned-racing driver recruitment program.

Also in the video, there’s a statement revealing that something “big” is happening at Silverstone on May 15 and towards the end we see a counter going from GT1 up to GT5 and then an empty placeholder appearing.

Just over a week ago, an Italian electronics retailer announced that Gran Turismo 6 would be launched on November 28, 2013, and published on its website what’s alleged to be the box art for the upcoming game. This has led to speculation that the new game will run on the existing PlayStation 3 console and not the next-generation PlayStation 4 due out at the end of this year.

We’ll bring you full details once Sony’s Silverstone celebration kicks off tomorrow.
