Ford SYNC

Ford SYNC

If you're a fantasy baseball fan, you know that like everything in life, you get out of it what you put into it. Sure, you can pick a roster and let it run its course, but to make the most of it, you have to stay engaged. Now, Ford SYNC can help you stay up-to-date on key fantasy baseball news through its SYNC telematics system.

The help comes in the form of weekly updates on baseball stats for both hitting and pitching. To reach it, you'll need a Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone and an active SYNC Services account.

In a car with a SYNC system, simply active SYNC, then use voice commands to navigate to Services > Sports > Baseball > Fantasy Update. Once there, you'll hear a rundown of the week's best players from both the American and National Leagues, including top batting averages, home runs, RBIs, and strikeouts. And of course, since SYNC Services is mated to your phone, not your vehicle, you can get those stats elsewhere -- either in another SYNC-ready vehicle or straight from your phone.

On the plus side, the fantasy baseball feature is a nifty way to keep drivers up-to-date on the best players, so they know who to put in and who to bench. That's great news for the 7,000,000 folks who play in the fantasy leagues. And since the broadcast is reached by voice commands rather than a touchscreen, it's (theoretically) safer to access, too.

The downside? Apart from having to drill down through four layers to reach the broadcast, the news isn't tailored to your own fantasy team. Sure, it's useful information, but it could be far more useful if Ford were able to tie it to your own roster. We've put men on the moon, so surely this isn't too much to hope for.

Here's a quick overview of the process in action:
