America, get ready for some fun in the dirt. The Global RallyCross Championship is getting ready for its first event at Irwindale Speedway on March 25-26. It will be broadcast on ESPN, so set your DVRs now.

If you're unfamiliar with rallycross, you're probably not a fan of the X-Games, Rhys Millen, Tanner Foust, or Ken Block. But that's OK--you'll have at least three chances to become a fan this year. And you will become a fan.

Europeans are familiar with the rallycross concept--basically a motocross for cars--and the U.S. version is basically the same. The U.S. events will even tie into the European rallycross series, with some of the competitors in the Global RallyCross series crossing over.

Two more events are schedule for the 2011 season, with Seattle due April 15-16, and Colorado Springs on June 17-18. Qualified competitors from the series are also expected to show at the 2011 X Games 17 Rally competition in August, to be held in Los Angeles.
