In a coup for Mitsubishi North America, the Evo X will be released in the US before being launched anywhere else, even before it’s released in the Japanese automaker’s homeland. Launch date for the Japanese market is in the 2nd half 0f 2007 while the US will get their first taste of the new car a full six months earlier. This means some time in early spring.

The US is responsible for the bulk of Evo and Lancer sales with annual estimates of 50,000 vehicles for the new Lancer model. The other reason is that cars of this size are falling out of popularity over in Japan. People there are moving towards tiny 3-cylinder city-runabouts.
