The race won’t begin until 2008 to commemorate the Centennial of the "Greatest Auto Race" of 1908, with cars departing from New York City on February 12th and finishing 80 days later at the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
The original Greatest Race was held to showcase the upcoming internal combustion engine technology back in 1908. Hopefully this latest race will help cement alternative fuel powerplants as a viable option for new car buyers in the years to come.
