Good news has been hard to come by for Jaguar for the last few months. First, there were rumors that the ailing British carmaker would be sold. Then there was news that Ford may simply dump the brand altogether. Well, the bad news streak has ended with a report from German magazine Auto Zietung that ranked Jaguar best overall for reliability, product quality and service. More than 30,000 readers took part in the survey where they rated 33 brands.

Jaguar has been making significant updates to its service network and manufacturing side and this has resulted in the higher ranking. The same Auto Zeitung survey on quality ranked Jaguar in 18th place in 2004 and in 5th place in 2005.

Heinrich Lingner from Auto Zeitung said: “It comes as a big surprise that a European brand has beaten the Japanese who have come first for several years running. Our readers voted just four European brands into the top ten, the other three were Porsche, Volvo and BMW.”
