Cadillac will build right-hand drive versions of its upcoming CTS executive saloon that it plans to export to the UK. The new CTS will be debuted at January’s Detroit Motor Show, but UK motorists won’t be seeing the car in showrooms until the end of 2007 at the earliest.

What Car? Is reporting that Cadillac will be adding a diesel version to its lineup and there are also suggestions that a two-door coupe model will also make an appearance. The CTS will join the current BLS sedan, of which there are possible convertible or estate versions in the pipeline. This wouldn’t be difficult for Cadillac as the BLS is based on Saab’s 9-3 architecture, which also comes in cabriolet and estate models.

Further, General Motors’ product development boss Bob Lutz has also hinted at the possibility of a baby Caddy positioned below the BLS and aimed at BMW’s 1-series hatch. Unlike the Europe only BLS, the new small Caddy would be a global car and would be strictly rear-wheel drive.
