Organizers of the upcoming New York Auto Show have revealed that Infiniti’s long awaited replacement for the G35 Coupe will be unveiled at the show, carrying the new title ‘G37.’ The new name hints at the coupe’s expected powerplant, a 3.7L version of the venerable VQ series of engines. This engine is also said to be a less powerful version of the same unit that will power the next GT-R, although there are rumors of a new turbo model from Infiniti that will be slotted above the new G37.

Initial speculation puts the standard output of the 3.7L engine at about 325 to 330hp, just enough to eclipse the potent twin-turbo 3.0L straight-six from BMW. However, the biggest news centers around a possible ultra high-end model based on the same AWD drivetrain of the next GT-R.

This teaser image of the new car’s headlight shows that developers have stuck with the design as shown in a previous concept rendering. Infiniti will also be unveiling a crossover concept in New York, labelled the ‘Infiniti EX’ that will feature a traditional SUV body with coupe-like styling.
