Toyota announced on Monday that Timo Glock will race for the Japanese team in 2008 and beyond. The 25-year-old German, who followed Lewis Hamilton by winning the GP2 championship in 2007, has signed a "multi-year contract", the Cologne based team said in a statement. "The team hopes an agreement can be reached with BMW-Sauber to allow him to test at Jerez on December 4-6," Toyota added.

Glock debuted for Jordan in 2004, and thereafter rebuilt his career in America's Champ Car series and GP2.

"I have tested quite regularly (since then) so I expect it will take very little time for me to get back in the groove," he said. "I have been lucky enough to race and succeed in several different championships in my career but my goal has always been to become a full-time formula o race driver," Glock added.

Toyota's statement on Monday did not mention who his teammate will be. Jarno Trulli has a contract that includes 2008. (GMM)
