Poor sales and a likely brand spin-off haven’t deterred Hummer from releasing a new special edition H2 and SUT dubbed the ‘Black Chrome’ edition. The new range features black chrome detailing for its exterior, including custom 22in wheels, a new grille, hood latches and handles, a chrome fuel filler cap and matching mirrors, badges and side vents. Other features that get the black chrome treatment include the door handles, spare tire cover emblem, and the rocker covers.

Also new for the 2009 model year is the addition of three new colors, including the Sedona Metallic paint scheme (pictured) that’s unique to the Black Chrome version of the H2. The SUV is also available with a matching interior.

The special edition Black Chrome models will be limited to just 1,300 units worldwide, including both the standard SUV and SUT pickup models.

Hummer’s year-to-date sales tally is down more than 43% versus its 2007 result, and sales for the month of July alone are down 61% on levels a year ago.
