Remember the good old days when Hertz started renting Ford Mustangs? I don't because I'm only 32, but I have read about it and seen the pictures.

Back in 1966, Hertz teamed up with Carroll Shelby to churn out a few branded GT350 rental cars. People quickly did exactly what you'd expect... take them to the track. Now Hertz is bringing the spirit of that program into the 21st century with a new slate of exotics and high-performance machines under the banner of the Hertz Dream Car group.

If you have a trip to Florida coming up, you should save up for the upgrade because it's going to be an awesome experience and it's also going to be expensive. The list of available cars includes the fairly standard Chevrolet Corvette, Camaro, and the Ford Mustang.

It also includes the Aston Martin Vantage, Audi R8, Bentley Continental GT, Ferrari F430,  Lamborghini Gallardo, Porsche 911, and the new SRT Viper. Prices for a daily rental range from $395 all the way up to $1,500, and you're maxed at 75 miles per day unless you want to pay more per mile.

If you're flying in, you will be met at the Hertz terminal by a representative who will then bring you out to your awaiting super rental. The program is only in Florida at the moment, but Hertz plans to extend its collection out to Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and San Diego. Autoweek might not have gotten a look at the contract, but we agree there will probably be some shenanigan stipulations involved.
