Our favorite Dutch car manufacturer, Spyker, has announced that it’s leading a consortium to try to take over the Midland F1 team.

Spyker is currently in negotiations with the owners of the team but no deal has been announced yet.

There’s also no word on whether the team would remain as Midland F1 or be rebranded to something else, though we would personally love to see the Spyker brand on the racing circuit.

Even if Spyker wins the bid, it “will consider a share issue to (partially) finance the transaction,” the company said in a statement.

Its partners in the transaction, M-Consortium, have expressed a willingness to subscribe to this issue for a large part. It’s almost a certainty if Spyker manages to buy out Midland the lead driver would be fellow Dutchman Christian Albers.
