One of the rumors surrounding Ford’s imminent Way Forward 2.0 announcement was that they would drop some brands, the most likely one being Mercury, whose sales have halved in the last few years. But in an interview with the Detroit Free Press, a Ford spokesperson confirmed they would keep all eight brands.

Ford currently sells Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Jaguar, Land Rover, Volvo, Aston Martin, and Mazda. Experts have told Ford that it needs to reduce the number of brands it sells, but it looks like Ford isn’t heeding this advice. The only brand that seems to have a chance of being sold off is the profitable Aston Martin, which Ford recently put up on the auction block.

One expert also claims that Ford should place all the company’s resources behind Ford and Volvo branded vehicles as these are the most mainstream and most likely to succeed.
