opel insignia caravan 2
We’ve seen
plenty of spy shots for the upcoming sedan version of the new Opel Insignia but until now there haven’t been any details about the ‘Caravan’ wagon variant. This latest rendering gives us a good indication as to what the new wagon will look like when it arrives in showrooms in the middle of next year.
The new Insignia replaces the current Vectra (Aura) range and will make its official debut in sedan form at July’s London Motor Show before going on sale later in the year. The new model won’t arrive as a
Saturn in the U.S. until 2010 at the earliest and there’s no guarantee the Caravan model will make it across the Atlantic.
The latest version will have a much more premium feel than previous generations and has grown significantly in size compared with its predecessor. The car is based on a heavily revised version of GM’s FWD Epsilon platform, aptly named Epsilon II, and could also include a five-door
hatchback model in addition to the new wagon.
Powering the new lineup will be a range of four-cylinder and V6 engines including both petrol and turbodiesel units. The US-spec Aura may also be available with a new V8 engine as well as a new
hybrid option similar to that used in the new
Chevrolet Malibu. You can see renderings of the sedan in our previous story by
