Lexus’ sharp new 2014 IS sedan has just gone on sale and we so far have been quite impressed with its ride and handling. Unfortunately, a high-performance IS F version of the redesigned sedan is yet to be revealed so Lexus will continue selling its previous bodystyle IS F into the new model year.

That’s right, the previous bodystyle IS F will be offered for the 2014 model year alongside the new IS, but you’ll have to pay a little more for the car. Pricing for the 2014 IS F starts from $64,260, including $910 for destination, an increase of $1,600 on the 2013 model (pictured above).

By comparison, the 2014 IS sedan starts from $36,845 for the base IS 250, including destination.

To justify the 2014 IS F's price increase, Lexus has added a new carbon fiber decklid spoiler, LED fog lights, an embossed "F" logo on the headrests, full semi-aniline leather trim for the seats, and Alcantara trim for the door innards and center console.

No changes have been made to the mechanical package, which means the 2014 IS F gets the familiar 5.0-liter V-8 engine, rated at 416 horsepower and mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

As for a redesigned IS F, Lexus is yet to confirm such a car. We do know that Lexus’ upcoming IS coupe, the RC, will spawn an RC F model, though it’s not yet known whether this car’s mechanical package will also feature in the latest IS sedan. We’d like to think there’s room enough in the Lexus portfolio for both cars, so we promise to update you as soon as we can.
