Looking like some kind of Pikes Peak Batmobile, Monster Tajima's Monster Sport E-RUNNER Pikes Peak Special--GoPro cameras and all--is just about ready for his assault on the mountain.

With a full carbon fiber body, what appears to be a very sturdy cage inside the pod-like driver capsule, and more vents and scoops than the actual Batmobile, the awkwardly-shaped electric rally car is, while perhaps not the most oddball car to take to Pikes Peak, certainly among the most.

As part of Team APEV, Monster Tajima will pilot the E-RUNNER up the mountain in pursuit of his seventh straight Unlimited class win, while at the same time seeking to set the electric record.

Exactly what's inside Tajima's electric racer hasn't been disclosed, but we do know it will feature two motors and regenerative brakes.

Tajima won't be the only battery-powered racer on the mountain this year, with eight cars entered in the Electric Division, including an i-MiEV Prototype car piloted by Hiroshi Masuoka, using the same core components as the production i-MiEV--but undoubtedly with the wick turned up as far as it will go.
