2012 BMW 3-Series Touring spy shots
The new
2013 BMW 3-Series has been confirmed for an online debut this Friday, October 14, but before then we have an exclusive spy video of the upcoming wagon version, or “Touring” in BMW-speak, as it runs up some test laps at the Nurburgring.
Due in showrooms next summer, the new 3-Series will pay special attention to efficiency, and it will achieve that goal through extensive use of BMW's EfficientDynamics technology.
Low drag aerodynamics, smaller engines, and high-tech electronics will combine to make the next 3-Series a step above the current car.
Sadly, this 3-Series Touring model isn’t expected to be launched in the U.S. Instead, we’re likely to get a new
3-Series Gran Turismo that’s also been spied testing recently.
Engine options for the complete 2013 BMW 3-Series range in the U.S. should start with a base turbocharged 2.0-liter unit and top out with a
twin-turbo V-6 in the
next-generation M3.
