BMW 7 Series, the New.

We as human beings jump to conclusions based on preconceived notions. Last week, I came across a rather large sweaty man, who could be typecast as a character out of The Godfather, only to find him helping out a woman pull her scooter out of the ditch leaving me choking on my thought, but pleasantly surprised.

One look at the rather featureless but imposing 7-series BMW is sure to arouse these two words in many a metropolitan city dweller parking and trouble. Fair enough, with an overall length of around 200 inches, its sure to scrape a few pavements and bumpers. Or would it? Throw those preconceived notions out of your window. Wizardry happens. The Beemer is not only easy to slot in but easier to zoom out of every messy situation.

The Beemer is available in 730d, 740i and Li, and the flagship 750i and Li trims. The 730d is powered by a 245 bhp 3.0-litre super-clean inline-six diesel engine. The 740s come with a 326 bhp 4.0-litre V8 and the top-end 750s get a powerful twin-turbo 407 bhp 4.8-litre V8 engine. All the variants drive the rear wheels.

The BMW move-over-poor-man! has all and more electronic and safety gadgetry from the respective wet dreams of a geek and a crash test dummy, justifying the $137,000 price tag. This is a luxury car that can give the owner a sense of sheer driving pleasure. With the 4 step dynamic driving configuration: comfort, normal, sport, sport plus, the 7-series will drive you to the track and get on to tire-shredding antics with gusto, all along while giving you a massage. With 0 60 mph figures below 5 seconds, this will outrun most Porsche 911s!

The fifth generation 7-series will appeal to the 5 series BMW enthusiast who is looking for an upgrade but may not impress a Mercedes S-classer.

This luxurious new age driving nirvana boasts of many worldss first including a spy-spec night vision camera and wing mounted side view cameras. This then, is not for those who want to announce their arrival, it is for those who have been there and done that. Not for a true-blue petrol-head like yours truly.
