Ferrari California: Live From, Er, California

Thanks to good timing, good weather and a great 2009 Los Angeles auto show, MotorAuthority has a special road test for you today: our first drive of the Ferrari California.

You've seen it here before but today, I'll be driving it and taking in all the typical California treats as I drive up the Pacific Coast Highway to exercise its big V-8, its folding hardtop, and it's uncanny way of tricking people into believing I'm a part of someone's entourage.

Stay with us today here via CoverItLive, or on Twitter @therealma #Ferrari #California. Tomorrow we'll have a mega-gallery of live photos--and Monday, our full road test.

  1. Ahh, perhaps my favorite car ever. I saw one at the Auto Show downstairs with a Ferrari child seat in the back. Perfect for dads like me! I'll take two. I look forward to your review, let me know if you want me to take any action shots of the car while you're down here.

    Bad stuff?

  2. I would say Its a ferrari with a peugeot 206 grill and nasty headlamps. It looks like a fish from the front and the side. If someone gave me this car, I would sell it then buy a Lamborghini Gallardo....

  3. Why Rt. 1 and not the Ortega and then out to Palm Springs. I hate Cliche's and same old boring road test routes!!!

  4. MWOW, Ferrari has a 200-mile limit on test drives. There's no way possible to get out to the end of Ortega and back to Santa Monica, with traffic and with the limit in mind. We'll try something more aggressive next time.
