Do you like watching a master at work? How'd you like to see a car rip through a quaint British countryside?

A couple weeks ago, we shared the news that rally driver Mark Higgins smashed his own Isle of Man record for cars, completing the 37.73-mile course in a blistering 17:35.14. That translates to an average speed of 128.73 mph and beats the previous official record of 19:15.88 Higgins set in a mostly stock WRX STI in 2014.

Now Subaru has released a full video of the run in the modified, almost 600-horsepower Subaru WRX STI prepared by Prodrive.

Not only do we get to see Higgins at work, he also narrates the video, talking us through the course and sharing his thoughts on how the car is performing. It's flat-out astonishing to see Higgins taking turns through narrow village roads at 120, 140 and even 150 mph.

The video features some pretty cool telemetry, including vehicle speed, engine rpms, the current gear, and left/right/forward/back g forces. We also get to see information about Higgins' condition, including heart rate, skin temperature, and respiratory rate. Not surprisingly, Higgins' heart rate starts out at an already excited 112 beats per minute at the beginning of a warm-up run and ranges up to 150 bpm.

Higgins says the car doesn't go that much faster in the straightaways than his previous record-holder (even though it does hit 176 mph, 10 more than the 2014 car), but it gets to the top speed faster and it carries more speed through corners. Shod with racing slicks and a drag reduction system, this is a serious race car.

More than that, though, Higgins is a serious driver. Of course, he says there are more seconds to be shaved from his record run. We're looking forward to his next attempt and the video that will follow.
