Sporting events across the globe draw in passionate fans who show support for their favorite teams, players, drivers, riders, and combatants. Watching a live sporting event is a wonderful way to spend a few hours, regardless of which sport you out there enjoy the most. Some sports, however, are more entertaining than others.

Motor racing is one such sport that is an amazing sensory experience when viewed live. USA Today and its readers agree, because the publication recently had folks vote on the Must-Attend sporting events out there. Topping the charts? The Indianapolis 500.

Fans made their voices heard, and the Indy 500 edged out a win over second-place finisher The Olympics. It makes sense that a race like the Indy 500 would rate so highly with fans of bucket-list grade sporting events. The track allows drivers to hit insane top speeds, the fan access to IndyCar events is always top notch (especially compared to Formula 1), and the other activities going down over the course of a holiday weekend just up the fun ante.

This past Indianapolis 500 proved just as thrilling as the fans would've hoped, too. The fight for first was down to the wire, with Ryan Hunter-Reay shooting past Helio Castroneves for the victory. That victory margin? Just 0.6 seconds, which is the second closest finish in Indy 500 history.
