Lexus LF-CC coupe concept, 2012 Paris Auto Show
At the reveal of the LF-CC coupe concept
at the 2012 Paris Auto Show, Lexus confirmed the concept was a preview of a new coupe the automaker was planning to launch. Considering that the LF-CC also previewed the styling of the new 2014 IS, it's not much of a stretch to deduce that the new coupe will essentially be an IS coupe.
However, until now there’s been no mention of a timeline for when we might actually see the IS coupe launched. What Car?
is reporting that the IS coupe will go on sale next year, suggesting that it will list as a 2015 model.
It’s said to be styled just like the LF-CC and probably feature a unique name. A recent trademark filing for “RC”
made by Lexus suggests that the new IS coupe will be called the RC. A separate filing for “RC F”
suggests that a high-performance version will also be launched.
The same report also claims that Lexus will launch its IS F high-performance sedan next year. This model is said to be receiving a V-8 engine, just like the outgoing IS F. Expect the potential RC F coupe to feature the same setup.
No mention of a replacement for the IS C convertible was made.
Note, the new IS coupe/RC isn’t the only new model line Lexus has in the works. The automaker is also planning a compact crossover
that is likely to be called an NX
. It will feature a hybrid option and will most likely be previewed in concept form at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show at the end of this year._______________________________________Follow Motor Authority on Facebook, Twitter, and Google+.
