BMW’s M Performance
bits can help enhance the driving experience for owners of late model BMW vehicles. Previous M Performance offerings
have included suspension enhancements, performance exhaust systems, aerodynamic body bits and even an M Performance Electronic Steering Wheel
with Efficient Dynamics, Sport and Race display modes.
Now, owners of 2012 and later BMW 335i sedans
can feel the love extended to earlier 335i owners
, thanks to a new M Performance Power Kit, available for both rear-drive an xDrive models. Priced at $1,100 (plus installation), the kit is available at all Authorized BMW Centers in the United States.
That money buys you a 335is-sized bump in output from 300 to 320 horsepower, while torque is increased from 300 to 332 pound-feet on automatic transmission cars. Owners of manual transmission cars see the same jump in horsepower, but the torque is increased from 300 to just 317 pound-feet.
BMW says that’s enough to drop the car’s 0-60 time by 0.2 seconds, while reducing the 50-75 mph acceleration time by 0.5 seconds. On a 2013 BMW 335i, that should translate to a 0-60 time of just 5.2 seconds.
While the kit includes new ECU software (or an entirely new ECU, depending upon model), it also includes a high-flow intake, an M Performance engine cover and decals for the car’s rocker panels. BMW backs the kit with a 4 year, 50,000 mile warranty, and claims that fuel economy and emission output remain unchanged.
