British track car manufacturer Caterham has released a single teaser image for a new model that it describes as the R300’s big brother. The new model is scheduled for its world debut sometime next month and as the teaser reveals, it will be coming with a supercharger.

For the uninitiated, the R300 is a track car based on a Lotus Seven chassis and which tips the scales at just over 1,000 pounds. It’s powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine sourced from Ford and is rated at 175 horsepower.

A supercharged version of the R300 promises to be significantly more potent, though there’s likely to be more than just a power hike for Caterham’s new model.

A few months ago we brought you a report that Caterham was planning a new model complete with a roof and a more comfortable cockpit. Could this be the car Caterham is teasing? We’ll know in a month’s time.

Caterham's range of lightweight track cars have been extremely popular amongst driving enthusiasts in the UK and certain other markets such as Italy, Japan and even the U.S. The cars represent a much more simplistic approach to racing, with a no nonsense design and purity that most modern track cars could never emulate.
