UPDATE: The 2014 Chevrolet SS has been confirmed as the VF Holden Commodore. Click here for all the details.

Just days after Chevrolet was found to have trademarked the "SS" nameplate, OnStar's vehicle compatibility guide has stepped up to list the "SS Performance" on its 2014 roll sheet. Seems like something's cooking here, and it smells like Caprice.


Or is it Commodore? Holden, GM's Aussie division, is known to be working on a facelifted version of the Commodore. The same car, in last-gen form, was sold here in the U.S. as the Pontiac G8, and is currently being sold as the Chevy Caprice--as a police cruiser. Could the upcoming version of the Commo/G8/Caprice be Chevy's SS Performance? Maybe.

The information, dug up by tipster Christopher Price, stops at the name. There's no indication of what the car may be, so we're left with our best guesses and linking together previous rumors. But that's half the fun, right?

We'll keep you posted as we learn more.

    Holy moly I can't wait. Drove a friend's G8 GXP and was blown away by how good it was. Much better than any of the Cadillacs although the interior could have done with some refinement.

    Hopefully the VF Commodore, which Holden is developing will address this issue.

    Not true. The Chevrolet version of the car sold to Police in the US is sold in Australia as the Holden Caprice/Statesmen. Which, yes is an extended wheelbase Commodore, but they are not by any means the same car. The car that was imported for sale in the US from Australia was the Holden Commodore.

    SS Performance?
    sounds like Chevy is preping the range of HSV models that went over to the US as the G8.
    Maybe the Senator??? the Calais V8R that has been massaged and specced up by HSV, or the Grange. the Caprice with all the bells and whistles?
