A fairly new looking Lexus IS F finished in a sultry red was crushed recently in the state of California, allegedly for street racing.
The sad practice has been going on since 2007 when the first impounded car, a modified Honda Civic hatchback, went into the crusher.
It’s not clear whether the car in this latest video was crushed for illegal street racing as most of the others still had their wheels attached.
Other parts such as the Brembo brake calipers also appear to be missing, so perhaps the car has already been stripped for at least some valuable parts.
Hopefully the poor IS F turns out to be an insurance write-off, but even then, this video is pretty harrowing.
You mean state governments. California state government enacted this punishment. Any idiot can become head of state government and influence introduced laws. Just look at Texas, Alaska, Arizona, and (of course) California. Let too many idiots into state government and we end up with idiotic practices like this. Don't blame "governments" when it's the morons who are in government that you're justifiably angry at.
The federal government doesn't give a crap if you're street racing.
Is this true? CA really crushes cars for street racing? If they really do, they should justify it by having a racing circut in every single county in the state. Wow I thought NY was messed up, I pay for taxes for the roads, I paid for my sports car, if you catch me I pay the ticket and the man gets fatter, if you crush my car it will be your last day even if it means its my last day.
While I think this is completely stupid, this is what they have to do to get these cars out of the hands of street racers. If the state or local government re-sold the cars or sold the parts, they would have an army of lawyers accusing them of confiscating cars for profit. And the lawyers would have a good argument. But this just is so wasteful.
