Kia GT V-8 Concept leaked images

The first of two Kia V-8, rear-wheel-drive concepts has leaked ahead of its debut at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show, and it looks like another design bullseye for the brand. Another rear-drive V-8 concept is due to arrive at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show.

Based on the same platform that's expected to underpin a new luxury rear-drive sedan coming next year to the U.S., the four-door coupe concept's details are as yet unofficial, but we can guess at a few of the key details.

The V-8 under the hood will likely be, at least in concept form, the 5.0-liter V-8 found in the Genesis R-Spec, rated at something like 429 horsepower. The interior is obviously pure concept, but could be rationalized into a more production-worthy variant by the time the Detroit show rolls around.

The name, as indicated by the plate on the back of the car, is the GT, a simple-enough take on what's obviously being targeted: a Grand Touring four-seater.

We'll have the full, official details and live images from Frankfurt next week.

  1. what a horrible profile from the front side that is....directly from the front it looks good although a direct copy of the BMW CS, and the profile at the rear smacks of XK Jag, with a smattering of Ford Probe directly from the rear.
you have to question this release if this is the design language tha Kia intends on pursuing. They have come out with some nice ones over the past couple of years and for me this would be a massive step back
