Lotus went absolutely insane for this year's Paris Motor Show. They are preparing for what could be their biggest lineup ever. Let's take a mad dash through what they revealed to see if there is anything worth getting envious about.
Lotus City Car - The only Lotus revealed in Paris that doesn't have a name beginning with an "E." However, the drivetrain does. It has an electric motor that generates 177 pound-feet of torque instantly. To extend the range, a 1.2-liter three cylinder engine powers a generator. It may not seem like much, but with a Lotus chassis setup under green technology this City Car could be a sporty entry into the environmentally friendly motorist's world.
Lotus Elan - Welcome back Elan! Many credit the Elan as the sole inspiration behind the Mazda MX-5. This new one takes everything to an entirely new level. This one will have a 450-horsepower 4-liter six cylinder engine instead of some measley DOHC four-cylinder. 0-60? How does 3.5 seconds sound? Add to that a KERS (kinetic energy recovery system) to help boost fuel economy, and you have a winning package. The Elan is slated for the 2013 model year. That leaves just enough time after graduation this spring to get some money saved up.
