So it's not a new engine, or even a new navigation package, but for car lovers, colors are often as important as displacement, especially when they're unique factory colors. The latest color revealed for the 2010 Dodge Challenger, Plum Crazy, is one of those that's almost sure to drive future collectors wild.

Even with modern paint booths and high-tech paints themselves, factory jobs are still better, and collectors know it. While the latest Challengers might not be collectible quite yet, many people purchasing them now are doing so with an eye toward the future as much as toward the past, and the Plum Crazy purple color is one option that just screams "Barrett Jackson" or "Mecum," come 2050.

The new color is available only on the Dodge Challenger R/T and SRT8, meaning it's inherently limited in availability and therefore volume. It's also available with a choice of white or black dual side stripes, and to sweeten the deal, Mopar has treated the interior to a factory upgrade as well.

Two-row deluxe seats get Katskin leather upholstery, available in a range of colors with different piping and stitching choices to further customize the car straight from the factory.

    That's something you hear from a dealer and no one else.
    The old mopars are not collectible be cause they painted them Plum Crazy lol
    They are collectible because they only made a handful of Hemi & 6pack cars.
    Some of those few just happened to be Plum Crazy.
    You can't force collectiblility by limiting numbers to 1 or 2 thousand.
    In 2050 a 1 of 1000 purple (1 of 40,000Hemi's total) 2010 hemi challenger will still not be worth as much as a 1 of 380 70 Hemi Challenger Of which maybe 10 (wild guess) might have been Plum Crazy
    Keep drinking the Dealer "It's gonna be Rare" Kool Aid.
    Beside the new pres will be doing his best to make Gas & these cars illegal long before 2050. LOL

    Hi Adamg, I have an original yellow 1970 challenger convertible & a 2006 "top banana" yellow charger r/t daytona. But my favorite color is PURPLE! How is your PURPLE challenger? I wish I could find a purple challenger convertible (but thanz to Pres. O that isn't happening)at least I still and always will have my original 1970 challenger convertible so Mr Obama can't touch it, it's a classic car....LOL and I will NEVER get rid of it. Could you please send me some pictures of your purple challenger so I can drool...can you tell me the options too as I may be buying a PURPLE one next week. Thank you! As for the haters,we are MOPAR people and always will be and color isnt an issue to us only original non molested mopars, the real thing!!!!

    Sounds like a bunch of very negative people out there. Thanks is owed to Dodge for making a car that no one else can come close to in terms of looks; performance isn't shabby either. AND, at least you can carry your friends and family around in the back seat! The color purple is retro and looks very cool. Sounds like a bunch of "wannabes" that will not fork out the cash and wish they had one. I say way to go Dodge! Keep the cool cars coming!

    I saw a 2010 R/T in the impact yellow at my local Chrysler dealership's. The showroom's just outside of Toronto. Boy Chrysler just doesn't seem to get it. They want your business. They nailed it bringing back the challenger. The impact colours are a great way of getting us old guys back into the dealerships post-bankruptcy. Instead of giving us a break Chrysler allows their dealers to jack up the prices on these impact coloured vehicle. They continue to stick it to the consumer. What a bunch of imbeciles running this company. Stop ripping regular people off!!!

    i want a mercedes should I be mad at them for making a great car I cant afford, no way! I find what I can afford even if I have to get a used one. deals are out there if YOU LOOK HARD ENOUGH. If you dont like a certain color look elsewhere remember this "recession"has lots of people selling stuff for whatever they can get. people smart with $$$$ are financially disciplined and should be the first ones to get the best deals, not whiners that cant afford to buy anything yet hate the ones that can..I smell jealousy. we all have bills to pay be smart w/your money for oneday you too can buy what others can and you wont be hating..we never finance, take out loans, etc does this mean you hate people like me too? DEBT FREE IS THE ONLY WAY TO BE

    WAY TO GO CRYSLER BRINGING BACK PLUM CRAZY I THINK THE CAR LOOKS AMAZING AND ITS WORTH 50 OR 60 GRAND WITH THE TECHNOLOGY AND ALL THE THOUGHT PUT INTO THIS MACHINE ITS WORTH EVERY PENNY. I WILL BE DRIVING ONE THIS SPRING YOU CAN COUNT ON IT. AND YUP SRT8 PLUM CRAZY YEH BABY!!!!!!!!!

    how can you say they are not trying,i bought my 09 dodge diesel at 0 percent interest, 0 percent, if thats not insentive what is, i will be going to order my purple challenger tomorrow for my wife, wish it was a convertible though, it will look good in my garage with my 2 cudas

    I've got to agree with both the negativity & the positive attitude that all have expressed. I have to agree that both Dodge & Chevy have been asleep for about 15 years as far the modern Muscle car market. Look @ Ford & the Mustang, I really could give a shit about any Mustangs in general but hey if your not sellin cars you better be sellin parts. Says a lot when there is a trillion of those pieces of crap on the road. So lets just say that I've wanted a new Challenger since they reintroduced them but have told myself & the saleman, not until they bring back the Plum Crazy colour. Well I would say that the collectability will be in the Plum Crazy Canadian cars built. They say less than 100. So with 30 million people in Canada, mine will be a future classic! Especially a full load SRT 8, 6 spd, loaded to the nuts!!! Yee Haa. You snooze, you lose!

    I ordered an R/T classic in Plum Crazy Purple, Now I'm waiting for Sassy Grass Green to come out. Does anyone know if you can get the Track Pak option with an auto transmission?

    Color makes big difference in making truck selection and also is having huge impact on the viewers. Dodge is the name that has changed the concept of trucking by offering the perfect combination of pivotal performance and explosive exteriors. Even this model of the company 2010 Challenger SRT8 is following the path that has been created by Dodge. Purple is the color that is rarely found in the trucks and therefore I feel the new launching of this purple colored Dodge Challenger will gain greater momentum. Carry on Dodge in offering dazzling models!!!

    During this recession I lost my high tech job making 33k a year to now driving handicapped kids for 10.25 an hr. How the F*** amI gonna be able to afford one of these $32,000 Challengers? I will have to wait 10 years until one is used and needs a new engine ! What happened to Camaros and Mustangs being a working person's sports car.You have to be a Lawyer to afford these cars. i live near a Dodge Dealership in Mansfield,MA. They have had 6 Challengers on the lot for about a year and not one has been sold.They just rotate them around.
