Carroll Shelby Developing a 1,000 Horsepower Twin-Turbocharged Mustang

It looks like Carroll Shelby has another limited edition vehicle in development and this one will put all others to shame.  On Adam Carolla's Podcast show 'Car Cast' he had Tom Nelson of Nelson Racing Engines on who spilled the beans on a 1,000 horsepower Twin-Turbocharged Mustang in development.  No details or specifics were given although Tom Nelson said production would be limited to just 50 models and they would be available through your local dealer.  Sounds like something similar to a Cobra Jet or Cobra 'R' type of vehicle where you will have to have a special license to buy.  Could you imagine selling a 1,000 horsepower Mustang to Joe Nobody off the streets.  Without proper training things could get ugly fast in a machine like that.

Tom Nelson and his company Nelson Racing Engines are known for building high horsepower engines for professional car builders looking for insane performance.  He has been building turn-key super motors for the past 11 years with some applications in the 2,000 horsepower range.  His power adder of choice is the Turbo which up until recently he was getting from an outside source.  Now Nelson is manufacturing his own line of Turbos in house which could be used for this new Shelby vehicle.

What will this new Shelby Mustang be, give us your thoughts in the comments below.
