Chevrolet Corvette tuning specialist Callaway Cars has released yet another package for the iconic muscle car, with the latest kit centering around a supercharger upgrade for the standard 6.2L V8 model. Designed specifically for the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette, the new kit starts at $18,900 and lifts output to 580hp (433kW). While this isn’t a match for the 638hp (475kW) output of the supercharged ZR1, the Callaway Corvette is still capable of reaching speeds in excess of 200mph.

Starting with GM’s LS3 V8, Callaway adds an Eaton supercharger, a fuel system with high-flow injectors, an air-to-liquid intercooler and a special air inlet. According to engineers, the car is capable of accelerating from 0-60mph in just 3.5 seconds and will pass the quarter-mile in 11.2 seconds at 124.0 mph.

At the customer’s request, Callaway will also install a hood decal that matches the design of the tuner’s 650hp (485kW) C16 custom speedster. Other small details include ‘Supercharged’ badging located on the hood and rear panel.

The latest kit arrives as Callaway celebrates 20 years of tuning Corvettes and to mark the event a new 27,000-square-foot facility in Corona, California, has been opened.

Actually, the center section of the hood is painted a contrasting color. That's part of the package's standard equipment. There's no hood "decal".

If 580 bhp isn't enough, the Callaway C16 produces 650 bhp, and the C16 Speedster makes 700 very streetable horsepower.

  3. I think the news is that this version of the car is available through Chevrolet dealers nationwide.
    It's a 580 bhp option on any C6:
    Coupe Convertible, Manual or Automatic.
    For $18,900.
Built at a Callaway facility, warranted, emission compliant, documented, and much faster than a Z06, for less money!

  4. I'm sure it will be very popular considering you can now have a convertible 'Vette that'll out-perform a Z-06. Well done and congratulations, Callaway on 20 years!
