Callaway 650HP upgrade for Corvette-based C16
December 31st, 1969
Corvette specialist Callaway first unveiled its C16 supercar in 2006 and then followed it up less than a year later with the launch of the open-top Speedster at the 2007 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Back then, the car was already sporting a supercharged V8 engine and outputting more than 600hp but the guys at Callaway knew they could squeeze even more power.
That’s why they’ve just released a new supercharging kit for the C16 range, lifting output to 650hp and 585lb-ft of torque. The C16 is powered by a hand-built version of the new Corvette LS3 engine, fortified with an intercooled supercharger, CNC ported cylinder heads, upgraded valvetrain, Callaway cold-air intake and free-flowing exhaust and a custom computer tune. The car also features an uprated brake package, Eibach Multi-Pro suspension, Dymag wheels, and a Deutschleder full-German-leather interior. All the performance mods sees the car go from 0-60mph in 3.3 seconds, run the quarter-mile under 11 seconds, and deliver a top speed of 210 mph.
The true beauty of the C16, however, is that it comes fully loaded. The only options are the sport bucket seats, custom-fitted Schedoni leather luggage kit, and the choice of either manual or automatic transmissions. The Callaway C16 Coupe and Cabrio are priced at $150,000 and $158,000 respectively, while the Speedster will set you back a cool $305,000.
If all this seems too much for you, Callaway also offers a supercharger kit for the regular C6 Corvette Z06. Priced at $18,000, the kit comes with an Eaton/Magnuson Roots-style supercharger and lifts output to 580hp and 510lb-ft of torque.

so basicaly you're paying for a way overpriced ZR1....and its uglier to boot
On the contrary: I was at the unveiling at Pebble Beach and this car was definitely the star of the show in 2007. Probably the best looking, and most finely crafted example of North America design this observer has ever seen. hats off to the folks at Callaway who seem to do an extraordinary job with a small staff and budget. Moreover I have spoken to Callaway owner after owner who seem to be thrilled with their cars, and this over 30 years! I would watch these guys carefully..
This car has 700 bhp, exclusivity and fit and finish worthy of a Delage. 300k is cheap!
