If there was ever a car in need of a facelift, it’s the Porsche Cayenne. The porky Porsche was universally panned by critics at its launch for its bloated looks and poor driving characteristics.

Auto Express has caught the updated model in testing around Germany with minimal disguise. Changes are minor – mainly in the nose, where it has new headlights and a more aggressive front bumper, complete with wide-set foglamps – but are a welcome change.

One interesting change picked up was that the nose has a bigger overhang, giving greater protection to pedestrians in the event of a crash. This may have been done to comply with tough new pedestrian legislation being ratified around the world. Even performance cars such as the Jaguar XK have had to change their designs to comply.

At the back, the Cayenne has a new bumper, roof spoiler, and a slight tweak to the lights. Updates are also expected on the inside. All of these changes have made the Cayenne a more handsome beast for the soccer moms to drive around in.
