Spy Shots: 2008 Cadillac CTS

Here’s a heavily disguised prototype of the 2008 Cadillac CTS, which is due for release in late 2007. From the image it’s clear that the new headlights will house the main projector beam at the top of the light while the front grille will be a toned down version of that used on the concept car. Otherwise, it looks like the new CTS stays true to its concept version.

From the side, the new car receives much smaller rear doors and windows than the current car giving it a sleeker overall look. At the rear, the brake lights reach around the bottom of the skirting to spruce up the rather bland styling of the current car. We’ll have to wait until the 2007 Detroit Auto Show to see the new concept version, which should be very close to the production car in its appearance.

Though there are no substantial details of what’s sitting under the hood, Edmunds suspect that Cadillac will increase the output of the current 3.6L V6 to around 280-300hp. This will bring it inline with competitor models from Lexus and Infiniti, which already produce around 300hp. See the rest of the images plus the full report over at the Edmunds website by following the jump.

  1. It's a good thing that aside from the sedan, other body styles will be offered for the CTS which includes a wagon, crossover and the two-door coupe.
