Audi has started work on its next-generation A8 but the new model is still a couple of years away. In the meantime, the current one is still looking fresh thanks to a facelift introduced for the 2015 model year. And now for 2016, Audi’s flagship sedan benefits from new Sport trim designed to fill the gap between the A8 4.0 T and S8.

The 2016 A8 Sport features the same twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 as the A8 4.0 T, whose output remains capped at 435 horsepower and 444 pound-feet of torque. However, its exterior has been dressed up with a few elements to give the car a more athletic look. These include a new front bumper with sporty intakes, new side sills, and a new diffuser insert for the rear bumper.

For the interior, the A8 Sport can be selected with Vermont Brown leather trim available through the Design selection catalog. Also available are some special wood inlays finished in either fine-grain ash or copper.

An eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission and Quattro all-wheel-drive system are fitted as standard across the 2016 A8 range in the U.S. market. All models also feature the A8’s long-wheelbase bodystyle except the S8, which comes with the normal wheelbase.
