Jaguar is only a day away from revealing its next-generation XJ saloon, which is scheduled for a debut on July 9th at a special presentation in London before going on sale by the end of the year. Recently the company released a new video detailing the car's driving dynamics and how they straddle the line between agility and comfort, and now official images of the car have been leaked online.

Speaking at the Shanghai Motor Show back in April, Jaguar's Mike O'Driscoll released some details about the upcoming flagship along with a teaser image and a video interview with Ian Callum.

The new XJ will be the first model to feature the next-generation of Jaguar's aerospace-inspired aluminum body architecture, and it will be available with the carmaker’s latest 3.0L V6 turbodiesel and 510hp 5.0L supercharged petrol V8. A plug-in hybrid variant is also rumored to be launched one year after the regular model, though no confirmation has been made on this yet.

Jaguar designers have focused on alleviating many of the current XJ’s criticisms – namely the outdated styling and lack of engine options. High-tech features inside are said to include pressure sensing buttons, combined with backlit glass panels and the retracting transmission selector knob used in the XF.

Stay tuned for all the official details coming up in the next 24 hours.

  3. No, he's right. The July car WAS in an accident on the Nurburgring before our spy photographers shot it.

So it looks like they still have to fix some handling issues.

  5. I suppose this phot shows a car testing new mechanism of forecoming XJ .
The current XJ body must have been temporarily adopted with it.
I hear In fact new XJ's exteria will be drastically changed and be more simillar to XC-F than current XF.
    W'ont it be?

  9. That rear side door is too small. The Chinese will only buy long-wheelbase versions, I bet.

  12. New generation of Jaguars look cheap, It almost looks like Korean cars and their interior design just isn't inspiring. I hope they've got a different designer with this XJ.

  13. The Bowers & Wilkins is great but im afraid Jaguar can't make an interior that can handle the power of the system. I brought an XF brand new & every door panel vibrated & rattled when you only had the system on half volume, this & the many many other issues with the car I now dont own the car. I took the hit & got out of Jaguar ownership. I wonder if the seats will be any better than the poorly designed items fitted the the XF

  18. Fantastic rear view (follow the link above) but unfortunately they'll be those that comment on what it looks like rather the fact that its a stand alone design and a huge step forward in the evolution of the XJ model line!!!

it does look quite bit like an XF, although it does kind of handle the lines a bit better than the XF.

i've always been a fan of the XJ, including the previous XJR. the only problem i see with the new supercharged 510hp 5L is that its not a step up to its competitors, the F01 760i and upcoming revised S8 with the supposed 580hp twin turbo 5L V10.

  20. then rear view is very unique, it will take time to be appreciated. but overall i think jaguar designers did a great job on changing the XJ.

  22. The front's ok, but have doubts about the rear... C-pillar is quite odd and the back end design seems to have the combined influenced of both U.S. and Korea.

I think this car is specifically built and marketed for the American market.
