Why should I also consider these?
Volkswagen's Tiguan isn't the best bargain or the most efficient crossover in its class, but it's one of the most upscale utes, in brand appeal and in cabin fit and finish.
The Honda CR-V has a more pragmatic feel: its 2012 renovation brings a very clever second-row seat mechanism and better styling, but not much more power and only slight improvements in fuel economy.
The RAV4 is still a strong seller, but it's ready for a major makeover, and seems dated inside, with styling, materials, and packaging.
The Chevy Equinox has great gas mileage and a flexible second-row seat to its credit; the new Ford Escape promises excellent fuel economy and the latest in connectivity when it goes on sale in the summer of 2012.
