Next year, 2017, marks the 70th anniversary of Ferrari [NYSE:RACE]. The Prancing Horse is doing several things to celebrate the milestone, including building a limited run of 209 LaFerrari Apertas.

Ferrari is also offering each of its five cars—the 488 GTB, 488 Spider, California T, F12 Berlinetta, and GTC4 Lusso—in 70 different liveries from famous Ferraris of the past. Up to 350 cars will be part of the program, and each livery will be offered on each model.

At the 2016 Paris auto show, Ferrari showed five of those liveries. They included:

  • The Stirling: An F12 Berlinetta in the paint scheme of the 250 GT Berlinetta SWB that won the 1961 Tourist Trophy with Stirling Moss at the wheel. This car sports a Blu Scuro racing livery with a horizontal white stripe and number roundels.
  • The Schumacher: A 488 GTB done up as an homage to the F2003-GA winner, driven by Michael Schumacher, of the F1 Drivers’ and Constructors’ World Championships in 2003.
  • The Steve McQueen: A California T inspired by the 1963 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso that was a gift to Steve McQueen from his first wife, Neile Adams. It features brown paint and a cabin in camel leather.
  • The Green Jewel: A 488 Spider in signature green livery of the 365 P2 fielded by the British David Piper Racing team. Piper was a Ferrari privateer and drove the car to victory in the Nine Hours of Kyalami in both 1965 and 1966 and won the Trophée d’Auvergne at Clermont-Ferrand in 1966.
  • A 488 Spider inspired by the 1953 375 MM bodied by Pinin Farina. This car features a three-layer Bianco Italia exterior color.

All of the liveries were designed by Ferrari's in-house Tailor Made personalization department.

If one of these liveries strikes your fancy, you had better act quickly because each will only be applied to one example of each car. That makes every car in the program a one-off and, very likely, a collectible.
