Fiat's revived 124 Spider will hit the market later this year with a sticker price just shy of $26,000, but the Italian automaker plans to offer a wide range of models.

That's actually $24,995 plus a mandatory $995 destination charge for the base 124 Spider Classica, which will come with 16-inch alloy wheels and cloth seats. Six color options will be available on the Classica trim level.

From there, the 2017 lineup goes to the $28,490 Lusso (Italian for "luxury") model, which brings with it leather seats in either black or saddle, leatherette wrapping on the dashboard, 17-inch alloy wheels, and a number of cosmetic enhancements.

Topping the range is the 124 Spider Abarth. Although its power bump from 160 to 165 horsepower is modest, it also adds Brembo brakes, Recaro seats, a Bilstein sport suspension, a mechanical limited-slip rear differential, a Sport Mode switch, and an Abarth-tuned exhaust system. The 124 Spider Abarth will start from $29,190.

Swapping out the standard 6-speed manual gearbox for the 6-speed automatic in any model adds $1,350.

The first 124 examples of the reborn 124 Spider, the Prima Edizione Lusso, will all be swathed in an exclusive Azzurro Italia (blue) paint with saddle leather seats. The individually numbered Fiats will be delivered with a matching blue leather bag, a journal with a pen, and a poster, for $35,995.

It's worth noting that the Fiat 124 is based on the Mazda MX-5 Miata, though that car utilizes a 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated 4-cylinder, while the Fiat has a turbocharged 1.4-liter 4-cylinder under its hood.

By comparison, the Miata starts at $25,735.

Fiat says the 124 Spider will be the cheapest turbocharged convertible available when it goes on sale, though that's a fairly small slice of the American new car market.
