Infiniti has released some additional details about its new QX Sport Inspiration, a show car that will undoubtedly preview the automaker's QX50 replacement and other future SUVs.

The QX50, which was previously known as the EX, is getting a little long in the tooth. With the exception of a mild facelift in 2011, it has been on the market since late 2008.

The QX Sport Inspiration indicates that, at least stylistically, the next generation model will diverge significantly by sporting a sleek sexy design that contrasts with the somewhat plain looking current model.

The size won't be changing much, though, with the QX Sport Inspiration measuring in at 4,600 millimeters in length and with a wheelbase of 2,800 mm. Those numbers translate to 181.1 and 110.2 inches, respectively.

Those dimensions are roughly the same as the QX50 as it stood before it was stretched for the 2016 model year.

Interestingly, the concept boasts 230 mm (about 9 inches) of ground clearance, which is nearly that of a more dedicated off-roader like a Toyota 4Runner.

Infiniti hasn't said what engine is under the concept's hood (if any), but the production model will probably get the new twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 engine already in use in the Q50 and Q60.

Look for more details to be announced later this year as Infiniti gears up to reinvigorate its sporty crossover.
