Volvo has announced pricing for its all-new S90 sedan that arrives in showrooms this summer.

The Swedish automaker says it has officially opened the ordering banks today for the car, which will initially be available as either the T5 Momentum, at $47,945, or the T6 AWD Momentum, at $53,945. Those figures include a mandatory $995 destination charge.

The T5 Momentum utilizes the brand's 250-horsepower turbocharged 4-cylinder to send power to the front wheels, while the T6 AWD Momentum delivers its turbo and supercharged 4-cylinder's 316 horsepower to all four wheels.

If you don't want the base Momentum trim, opting for the Inscription trim level bumps that price up $3,000 for a T5 or $3,300 for a T6 AWD. The Inscription package includes such niceties as LED headlamps, heated and ventilated front seats, upgraded leather seat trim, leather trim on the dashboard and door panels, and laminated side windows.

A host of other options are available, including three interior colors and seven exterior shades.

Uniquely, Volvo will allow buyers to either purchase their vehicles directly from a dealer or via the automaker's website. A special Volvo Concierge will guide buyers through the ordering process, explaining each of the car's options and then will remain in contact until the car is delivered through the new owner's dealer of choice. The Volvo Concierge will be available via online chat, email, or phone.

The S90's price represents a big $3,500 step above the outgoing S80, but the new model is vastly more advanced.
