Revealed last fall at the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show, the Maserati Quattroporte Ermenegildo Zegna Limited Edition brings together two of Italy’s greatest luxury marques in celebration of the carmaker’s 100th anniversary.

Only 100 examples of the car will be sold worldwide, and Maserati hasn’t disclosed how many of those will make it to the United States. Some will, however, and they’ll be priced from $175,000.

That’s a price premium of $34,500 over the 2014 Maserati Quattroporte GTS it’s based on, but the Zegna edition brings with it more than just the 523-horsepower output and 191-mph top speed of the standard GTS.

The exterior of the Quattroporte Ermenegildo Zegna is Platinum Silk, a shade exclusive to the limited-edition car. Aluminum particles, ground to a fine dust, add the luster of metal with a soft sheen to the finish. The same finish is applied to the 20-inch Mercurio alloy wheels. Aluminum brake calipers behind those wheels are mirror polished for a shiny accent, and a special Ermenegildo Zenga Limited Edition placard adorns the B-pillar.

The interior of the Zegna Quattroporte is likewise customized: a combination of dark brown (Moka) and a light grey/sand blend (Greige) provide the theme; materials include 100 percent silk chevron-weave seats, ultra fine-grain leather, Zegna wool from the company’s Trivero mills on the backrest and seat centers, and stain chrome controls and surfaces. Open-pore radical walnut wood trim adorns the dash.

Beyond the exquisite high-fashion materials, there’s a great deal of focus paid to the details, as well, including a brass Limited Edition One of 100 plate set into the center console.

As if that weren’t enough, there is also a host of high-end technology and entertainment equipment in the Maserati Quattroporte Ermenegildo Zegna Limited Edition, including a 1,280-Watt Bowers & Wilkins sound system with Quantum Logic Surround sound, an exclusive feature for the Zegna edition.

Production of the fashion-driven limited-edition Quattroporte is now underway, with deliveries to follow shortly.
