Ever since news of McLaren Automotive's birth broke, fans have been eagerly snatching up any news of the car that will succeed the venerable F1 supercar. We’ve already seen all the images and details for that car, the all-new 2012 McLaren MP4-12C, and now the company behind it has announced a new U.S. distributer and the first of six new dealerships that will be selling it come summer 2011.

McLaren has announced the launch of McLaren Automotive Inc., the official U.S. distributer for its 12C supercar. The distributer’s headquarters will be located in New York City with operations including sales, marketing, aftersales and retailer development for North America.

As for the first six dealerships, they will be located in Beverly Hills, Chicago, Dallas, Greenwich, San Francisco and Tampa Bay. These retail candidates have been carefully selected based upon their experience in the segment and presence in the marketplace. Additional locations where McLaren intends to appoint retailers in North America include Miami, Orange County, Philadelphia and Toronto.

The U.S. is a crucial market for McLaren and is expected to account for almost 30 percent of sales. Dealers will begin selling the 2012 McLaren MP4-12C from summer 2011 with a base price within a range of between $225,000 and $250,000--the final numbers will be announced this September.

The new 12C supercar will make its U.S. debut next month at the 2010 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in California. Attendees will be able to see a prototype of the 12C on the Concept Car Lawn in front of the entrance to The Lodge at Pebble Beach. The car will then tour North America to support events held by retailer candidates.
