The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is finally dead. We'll give you a moment.
Far outliving its sell by date, the Evo is dead, but whether anyone will miss it or not is another story. In fact, that was the topic of our recent Twitter poll, which asked whether you mourn the loss of the Evo.
Despite the car being outdated 53 percent of you still said, "Yes, I'm crushed."

As for the rest of you, 18 percent said, "No good riddance" while another 18 percent apparently didn't even know the Evo still exists.
Interestingly, 11 percent of you don't read Motor Authority often enough, clearly, as you responded with, "What's that?"
To acknowledge the death of the current iteration of the Evo, Mitsubishi built 1,600 "Final Edition" models. The list price on those comes in at $37,995 but one dealership wanted a crackpot $88,888.
The last of those Final Edition cars is being sold via an eBay auction—set to end on September 15—with proceeds benefiting Feeding America Riverside | San Bernardino and Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County.
Those last 1,600 cars were based on the GSR trim with a #GiveAShift-approved manual transmission, and increased power output to 303 horsepower and 305 pound-feet of torque.
Yes, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution as we know it is dead, but it's said the nameplate will continue on at some point. Interestingly, it will apparently be placed upon a plug-in hybrid SUV, which you can bet will have performance numbers attached to it.
Sure, the nameplate might live on, but it's clear the Evo as we know it is dead, and likely gone forever.
