It used to be that if an automaker wanted to give a car more power, it shoved a larger engine under the hood. These days, that's not necessarily the case.

From turbochargers and superchargers to hybrid systems, automakers are looking at every conceivable way to boost power while still increasing--or at least not destroying--fuel economy ratings.

We asked you via a Twitter poll whether enthusiasts should embrace hybrid performance cars, and the majority of you said yes. A total of 57 percent of respondents said, "Yeah! Instant boost FTW," while 32 percent of the respondents said "No! That's not right." Apparently 11 percent of you have a sense of humor or need to check out our sister site Green Car Reports as you responded, "What's a hybrid?"

While some might immediately think of the Prius when they think hybrid, there are far more exciting examples. The new Acura NSX supercar is a hybrid, as are the Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1, and Porsche 918 Spyder.

Word on the street has it that the new Toyota Supra will have a hybrid powertrain, and there's even talk of a hybrid or all-electric Chevrolet Corvette in the future.

The Hellcats have their place, but it seems the majority of you agree that hybrid performance cars do as well.
