After wowing crowds with his custom 240Z at SEMA in 2015, Fast and the Furious star Sung Kang has a new project car in the works for this year’s show, and this time he’s enlisted a little help.

Kang has teamed up with Alexis, Christian and Tony, all of them students from Alhambra, California, and all of them aspiring automotive technicians. Pure Vision’s Steve Strope is also involved and will serve as a mentor to the boys.

Their project is centered on the concept of the underdog, and the car that’s set to be transformed perfectly fits the theme: a 1972 Ford Motor Company [NYSE:F] Maverick.

“If I were a car, I would be the Maverick,” said Kang, whose character Han drove one in 2011’s Fast Five. “The Maverick has always been underappreciated, overlooked and undervalued… but those who love her are loyal forever.”

Specific details of the planned modifications haven’t been revealed but a concept sketch hints at what’s to come. We also know that Ford has supplied a Mustang EcoBoost half-cut, so that front-mount intercooler in the sketch is likely for a turbocharged 2.3-liter inline-4.

The build will be recorded and shared in an online video series featuring on YouTube channel Garage Monkey. The final build will be unveiled for the world to see at the 2016 SEMA show running in Las Vegas from November 1-4. It will then be auctioned off to raise money for the SEMA Memorial Scholarship Foundation, which provides financial support to students pursuing a career in the auto industry.
