Audi is planning a significant expansion of its RS performance range in coming years.

Some of the new models in the works include the first ever RS 3 sedan, new generations of the RS 4 Avant and TT RS, and possibly even an RS Q5.

According to Car and Driver, the product onslaught will commence as early as this month with the arrival of the new TT RS at the 2016 Beijing Auto Show. The Chinese show starts April 25.

The TT RS will once again come with turbocharged 5-cylinder power but its engine is said to be an all-new design capable of delivering close to 400 horsepower, up from the previous unit's 360 hp. This is important now that Mercedes-AMG’s turbocharged 4-cylinder is packing 375 horses. Sadly, we also hear the TT RS will no longer offer a manual transmission.

The engine in the TT RS, like the previous unit, is said to feature 2.5 liters of swept capacity. It will also do duty in the new RS 3 which is expected on sale in the United States next year, as a 2018 model. The updated version of the current RS 3 Sportback sold overseas will also get the engine.

According to an alleged Audi roadmap that surfaced earlier this year, the TT RS will go on sale in April 2017. The RS 3 is said to be reaching showrooms in August 2017. Unfortunately, the roadmap suggests we won't be getting the RS 3 Sportback.

Stay tuned for an update.
