Want a Ford Motor Company [NYSE:F] GT but know that you won't be able to afford one? Well, at least your kid can get one free, albeit in 1/25 scale. Kids visiting the Ford booth at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit January 16-24 will be able to get a free snap-together plastic Ford GT kit from Revell.

The giveaway is part of a "Make 'n Take" program Ford has run or a few years. Ford began collaborating with Revell in 2013 for the Detroit Auto Show. Previous giveaways have included Ford Mustang and Ford SVT Raptor snap kits.

The Ford GT kit will contain 14 pieces and snap together in a matter of minutes. An auto show stamp on the bottom will indicate that it is a special edition model. A retail version will be available in April for $14.99. It will have twice as many pieces and take 10 to 15 minutes to build. It will be available on line and in hobby shops and toy stores everywhere.

After your kid gets a free kit at the auto show, maybe you can buy a retail version for yourself. It won't be the real thing, but it'll be a good way to show your love for the Ford GT.
